This is a 3-hour, in-person session on basic weaving techniques you will need to create your first handwoven piece.

Weaving is one of the oldest methods of creating fabric and is a celebrated cultural practice in the Philippines. This workshop introduces Modern Weaving, a contemporary take on the traditional practice that makes it easier to learn the craft at your own pace, capacity, and space.

The complete set of Weave-It-Yourself kit is yours to keep for more woven projects! By the end of our session, some students will finish their woven piece while some can take it home to complete later. You will learn that weaving is a slow craft and that practicing this at your own pace is best as it can be relaxing, fun, and therapeutic!

Private session means we can schedule your class at your most available time. The base rate for a solo session is higher so if you want a lower rate, you can invite friends to join you to enjoy discounts!

Schedule your availability by going to my CALENDAR PAGE to view available dates as I regularly update this for private classes. Once you have submitted a schedule, feel free to purchase the pass here on the website. You can also send me a message on Instagram so we can discuss your availability. I'll get back to you asap to confirm your schedule.

Lessons include materials discussion, warping your loom, staple weaving techniques and their variations, and a little Q&A on translating your fun ideas for your next projects. An online bonus guide will also be provided on taking your piece off the loom and finishing it as a personal souvenir, a woven wall hanging.

About the space: The Art of Yarn Craft Studio is located in Kapitolyo Pasig, Metro Manila in the Philippines. It is a cozy and colorful art studio with Filipiniana Tattoo right next to me and an ongoing tattoo session can happen during our scheduled class but rest assured that we take every measure to not disrupt both of our appointments.

About the Instructor: Judith Basco is a fiber artist and a peasant advocate based in Pasig, Metro Manila. She started @theartofyarn on Instagram in 2018 and has taught kids and adults the art of weaving since 2019. Aside from weaving, she also practices Latch & Locker Hooking, Crochet, Macrame, and other fun fiber crafts!

Cancellations: All sales are final and are non-refundable, but can be transferred or rescheduled in case you can no longer attend the in-person class. We strictly require at least a written notice 24 hours before the date to allow us to adjust accordingly. If the class is canceled less than 24 hours before our session schedule, we cannot guarantee refunds or reschedule.

Payment options: We accept payments through bank transfer (GCash, Maya, BPI, and Unionbank), available on Checkout. You can also process secured credit card payments through Paypal.
